Dear friends of NCSE,

A new issue of RNCSE is available on-line, as is a preview of Rob
Wesson's Darwin's First Theory.

RNCSE 37:2 NOW ON-LINE

A GLIMPSE OF DARWIN'S FIRST THEORY

NCSE is pleased to offer a free preview of Rob Wesson's Darwin's First
Theory: Exploring Darwin's Quest for a Theory of Earth (Pegasus Books,
2017). The preview consists of chapter 14, "From Natural Selection to
Plate Tectonics," which offers a personal and historical exploration
of the connections between Darwin's travel and science and the
development of modern plate tectonics.

Rob Wesson is a Scientist Emeritus at the United States Geological
Survey. Robert H. Dott Jr. (a member of NCSE's Advisory Council)
describes Darwin's First Theory as "[a] lively, readable account of
field experiences while chasing the records in southern Chile of
several of Earth's most severe earthquakes. A very welcome addition
to the history of the geosciences."
